Getting Around
Transportation is easy breezy once you’re in Marina del Rey. Small to large groups can choose from several low-cost transportation options. No need to get a rental car to enjoy your vacation on the Los Angeles coast.
Circuit
Once your group is in Marina del Rey, it’s easy to hop aboard this five-passenger electric shuttle available on-demand daily from 12:30 to 9 p.m. The fare is $3 per person ($9 max) for up to five passengers. Download the free Ride Circuit app to schedule your pick-up. Circuit, formerly known as Free Ride, will no longer accept texts. Make sure to allow 10-15 minutes for pick-up. Gratuity for the driver is appreciated, though not mandatory. The Circuit service is limited to the Marina and Venice Beach; the cars cannot travel on or cross Lincoln Boulevard. That boundary includes our hotels, restaurants, and water attractions in Marina del Rey.

WaterBus
This open-air water taxi is a fun way to explore Marina del Rey as a group. You can catch the summer-season WaterBus from any of eight stops in the Marina and enjoy a unique mode of transport to dining, hotels, and water recreation options. Many visitors park their car in one of the local lots and use the WaterBus for a direct drop-off at waterside destinations, including Burton Chace Park and Marina “Mother’s” Beach. The WaterBus runs mid-June through early September on select days (usually Fridays through Sundays and holidays) in the summer. Rides are $1 each way. Strollers and bikes are allowed; no pets.

Rideshare
Rideshare companies such as Uber and Lyft operate throughout Los Angeles and at Los Angeles International Airport. In Marina del Rey, be sure to call your car to a safe location – please do not attempt a pickup or drop-off along any major street. Find a landmark such as a large storefront in a parking lot to help your driver locate you.
Public Bus
The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus is another great option to explore the Los Angeles Westside. In the Marina, Route 3 travels along Lincoln Boulevard to Santa Monica, where you can stop by the Santa Monica Pier and shop at Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place. There are two Route 3 lines – one is an express, with limited stops, so check with the driver about your intended destination. The Culver City Green Bus Line carries riders across 25 square miles of several Westside communities. Lines 7 and 1 traverse the Marina’s main throughways. 310-253-6510; culvercitybus.com.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA, or Metro) oversees bus and rail lines in the Greater Los Angeles area. This is a massive network that can generally get you anywhere you need to be in Los Angeles. 323-466-3876; metro.net.
Metro Rail
The Metro Rail E Line (formerly Expo Line) in Downtown Santa Monica is just 5 miles north of the Marina. A quick taxi ride will get you to the sparkling Marina waters in no time! Buy a Metro TAP Card in order to ride the Metro Rail. Cash is not accepted.
