Marina “Mother’s” Beach

Marina "Mother's" Beach

Marina “Mother’s” Beach is a peaceful 12-acre lagoon that is easy walking distance from most of Marina’s hotels. Staffed by lifeguards seasonally, the beach has playground equipment, sheltered picnic tables, and easy access to restrooms. These amenities and the cove’s lack of surf make it ideal for families with young kids – an attribute that contributed to the attraction’s local nickname, Mother’s Beach. There is also a paved ADA ramp to the waterline.

VIRTUAL TOUR

The picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Coal-powered barbecues are available for your use; bring your own supplies. Parties or other private gatherings of 50 or more people require an event permit from the L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors. The same requirement applies to any organized activity, such as youth day camps and the like. Click here for more information

Fitness options at this half-mile crescent-shaped beach include a few volleyball sand courts, kayak/stand-up paddleboard rentals, water yoga classes (by reservation), and a beach boot camp class on select mornings.

Several restaurants are within walking distance, including Beachside Restaurant and Bar at the Jamaica Bay Inn, the Cheesecake Factory, and Sinder at the Marina del Rey Marriott. A small convenience store is located nearby at 4148 Via Marina.

Marina Mother’s Beach has a dock reserved for use by the Marina del Rey WaterBus. The dock is a boarding and drop-off for this summer season water taxi service. Learn more here
